Painting with Pantone’s 2016 Colors

Rose Quartz and SerenityWith 2016 just around the corner, color expert Pantone has unveiled their color choices of the year. With a balance of warm and cool hues in mind, they chose Rose Quartz and Serenity. Pantone says that these colors reflect “connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.” These shades of pale pink and cool blue are a far cry from 2015’s Marsala and 2014’s Radiant Orchid and were chosen with a unilateral approach to color in mind.

This is the first year that the company has chosen two colors, and while these pink and blue hues are not ones that we would traditionally pair together, they do look beautiful with a wide variety of mid-tones. From greens and browns to shades of purple, pink, yellow and gray, there are many fun color pairings to try if you are considering adding the 2016 colors to your home.

While not everyone is sold on this unique color combination, Serenity is a beautiful option if you are looking to create a feeling of peace and tranquility in your home. Whether you are looking to paint a bedroom, bathroom or living room, we feel that this shade could be quite successful. For individuals interested in adding both colors to their home’s style, we recommend using them as accent colors in a room with a more neutral wall color.
