Would you ever paint your house completely blue? Maybe, maybe not. But you wouldn’t expect the entire neighborhood to be in such an uproar! The whole neighborhood turned on Keely and Peter Durbrova when they painted their home blue. It seems that most neighbors didn’t like the color blue. Maybe it got them thinking about sadness.

KHOU 11 reports, “They eventually decided to paint the Victorian style house a bright teal color, after they got approval from their HOA: the Atascocita Community Improvement Associaton. It’s tropical with the palm tree so lets go with it. They wanted to know this was their sanctuary. Now it’s anything but, after an anonymous realtor posted a picture of the home on a website asking for opinions on property value and aesthetic appeal. The post it stirred up several hundred comments.”

Rightfully so, the Dubrovas are at a loss as to what to do next. They are taken aback at the hatred for the color blue and are trying to find ways around it. You would think that an American has the right to do up their house in whatever way they want, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. All they wanted was a sanctuary, to have some peace of mind, but it seems the neighborhood is against it.

If you were in their shoes, what would you do? Stick to you guns and drown the neighborhood in blue? Who would’ve ever guessed that the entire neighborhood would be burning crimson because of the color blue…who would’ve ever guessed that painting your house would cause such a stir?
